Building Control for a loft or extension
What Building Control does and what drawings are normally needed.
This is general information, not a survey, design, legal or Building Control decision. The correct scope and standard depend on the property, work, date and regulatory route.
Building Control checks whether the proposed work is designed and built to meet applicable Building Regulations. It is separate from planning permission. The project may use a local authority service or a registered private building control approver; the chosen route should be confirmed for the specific work.
A clear package often includes existing/proposed plans, sections, structural information where relevant, specifications and product details. The approver decides what submissions and inspections are required.
