Fire doors and fire safety in loft conversions

Why a loft fire strategy is coordinated rather than reduced to one universal door label.

This is general information, not a survey, design, legal or Building Control decision. The correct scope and standard depend on the property, work, date and regulatory route.

A loft conversion can require a coordinated escape, detection, compartmentation and fire-resisting door strategy. The exact door set, rating, seals, self-closing arrangement and alarm coverage depend on the existing layout and proposed design.

Do not promise that every door is FD30 or that one intumescent-strip detail works everywhere. The drawings, specification and Building Control review determine the accepted solution.
